Mark Harmon sheds light on working behind-the-scenes on ‘NCIS: Origins’

Mark Harmon recently opened up about working behind-the-scenes on NCIS: Origins.

The actor shared what is like “exploring a character with someone else (Austin Stowell) on NCIS: Origins as the lead in the season two of the show, aired today (May 5).

“I wait to be asked… I’m not going to dive in there and say anything unless you ask me,” explained the 74-year during an appearance on US Weekly’s episode of the NCIS: Partners & Probies podcast on May 5.

The actor, who is an executive producer on Origins, noted, “You’d be surprised by how many people don’t ask.”

However, Mark mentioned that it’s “OK” if the new cast doesn’t necessarily lean on him as a performance guide, even though he played Leroy for 19 seasons prior to his 2022 exit.

“It’s a different way of doing it. Not the way I did it, but that doesn’t make it right,” stated the actor.

Elsewhere in the interview, Mark admitted that the Origins cast is familiar in the lore of NCIS franchise.

“Part of this is being surrounded by talented people and allowing them to do their job individually and trusting that,” pointed out the actor while talking with podcast hosts.

Mark further said that this “is a different show. Very different, certainly, than the mothership”.
