Meghan Markle addresses backlash over viral twerking video with Prince Harry

Meghan Markle has finally addressed the backlash she faced after posting her now-viral “twerking” video with Prince Harry.

The clip, which resurfaced in June, was originally filmed in 2021 just before the birth of their daughter Princess Lilibet.

In it, Meghan, nine months pregnant at the time, is seen dancing and twerking in a labour room while Harry joins in, a candid moment that divided fans online.

While some praised the couple for showing their playful side, others slammed it as “inappropriate.”

Now, speaking on The Circuit podcast with Emily Chang, the Duchess of Sussex admitted she hesitated before posting the video earlier this year. “I waffle with some of my choices before I make them,” Meghan, 44, explained.

“I’m generally very decisive, but social media is a great barometer for me, because putting out a video of myself, nine months pregnant, was a really big choice.”

She added that the goal was to show authenticity: “I wanted people to see themselves in my story and our story… real life is still happening behind the scenes.”

When told about the criticism, Meghan said bluntly: “I’m sure they did. I don’t know. But I also protect myself from seeing that.”
