Meghan Markle appears to have shifted her approach in season two of With Love, Meghan, showing a more “down-to-earth” side after the first series faced heavy backlash.
The Duchess of Sussex, 44, released eight new episodes of her lifestyle series on Netflix today, with critics noting subtle changes in tone.
According to royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams, Meghan’s new on-screen persona is a deliberate attempt to appear more relatable following the “unwise” decision to film both seasons back-to-back, a move he claims left no time to respond to criticism.
Speaking to GB News, Fitzwilliams explained: “It was unwise, because you can’t pick up any criticism. But from the trailer, the tweaks were obvious."
"Meghan appeared much more responsive to her guests and more receptive to other viewpoints.”
The trailer featured Meghan cooking and chatting with high-profile names including Chrissy Teigen and Queer Eye’s Tan France, as well as top chefs David Chang, Samin Nosrat, Christina Tosi and Clare Smyth.
While Meghan’s husband Prince Harry and their children, Archie and Lilibet, are absent from the trailer, the new season promises to focus more on community, creativity and conversation, a marked shift from the glossy, staged feel of season one.
