Meghan Markle mocked for privacy tour as Netflix show returns

Meghan Markle’s approach to privacy and fame continues to spark debate years after she and Prince Harry stepped back from royal duties.

Following the release of the couple’s Netflix docuseries in December 2022, their then-global press secretary dismissed claims they left royal life in pursuit of privacy as a “distorted narrative.”

The statement stressed that privacy was never the reason for their departure, noting: “They are choosing to share their story, on their terms.”

However, critics argue that Meghan’s actions suggest she wants both privacy and global stardom. Royal author Tom Quinn told the Daily Mail: “If Meghan really wanted to be a private person, all she needed to do was go back to America and keep quiet – but what Meghan wants is privacy combined with world fame.”

The apparent contradiction was even satirized in the animated show South Park, which mocked the Sussexes with a “Worldwide Privacy Tour” storyline.

Since leaving royal life in 2020, Meghan has turned her attention to her own ventures, most notably her Netflix lifestyle series With Love, Meghan

The second season, debuting August 26, will feature star chefs and personalities including José Andrés, David Chang, Clare Smyth, Chrissy Teigen and Christina Tosi.
