Meghan Markle shares sweet story of falling for Prince Harry under the stars

Meghan Markle has opened up about the unusual third date that made her fall in love with Prince Harry.

In the newly released second season of With Love, Meghan on Netflix, the Duchess of Sussex, 44, reflected on the early days of her romance with the Duke, which began with a blind date in 2016. 

Speaking to Queer Eye star Tan France while the two painted aprons together, Meghan shared that their love story truly began on their third date, a five-day camping trip in Botswana.

“We met in Botswana and we camped for five days together,” Meghan recalled. “You really get to know each other when you’re in a little tent together, and it’s like - what is that outside the tent? That’s an elephant. Are we going to be safe? Yeah, you’re safe. OK.”

She also revealed that Harry, now 40, was the first to say “I love you.”

Harry previously described the trip in their 2017 engagement interview, calling it “crucial” to have time alone together “under the stars.”

The couple went on to marry in May 2018 and now share two children, Prince Archie, six, and Princess Lilibet, four.
