Prince Harry has once again sparked controversy within the royal family, with insiders claiming his latest move blindsided the Palace.
Since stepping down as a senior royal in 2020, the Duke of Sussex, 40, has repeatedly criticised the monarchy. However, after King Charles and Kate Middleton’s cancer diagnoses in 2024, Harry appeared to soften his public attacks, until recently.
In May, after losing his appeal over the downgrade of his taxpayer-funded UK security, Harry sat down with the BBC for a tell-all interview.
There, he made fresh claims about his treatment by the Firm.
According to royal expert Robert Hardman, the Palace only learned about the interview “minutes before broadcast,” leaving senior aides furious.
Hardman wrote in The Daily Mail that the decision caused “considerable irritation” behind the scenes.
One Palace staffer reportedly said: “As the Duke of Sussex might say, it felt like a bit of a stitch-up.”
The episode has reignited tensions between Harry and his family, raising doubts over whether reconciliation is truly possible despite the King’s ongoing health battle.
