Prince Harry's meaningful gesture unfortunately did not sit well, especially amid his efforts to make peace with the royal family.
The Duke of Sussex recently made it to the headlines because of his secret letter placed by his friend at the National Memorial Arboretum on the 80th anniversary of VJ Day.
Notably, the event was attended by King Charles and Queen Camilla as well.
In his personal message, Harry paid tribute to his late grandfather, Prince Philip and the 'Forgotten Army.'
However, the Duke's move was dubbed hypocritical as he has been accused of "hurting" his grandpa during the final years of his life, the Mail reported.
Alongside the letter, Harry also asked his pal to place a wreath at the memorial despite the fact that no other senior royal member, including Prince William and Princess Kate, had left a wreath.
As per the source, the Wales family did not try to grab the spotlight from the King and Queen.
Prince Harry's possible olive branch to the royal family on VJ Day was seen as "hijacking" the service that took place for the war heroes.
