Prince Philip reportedly delivered a blunt verdict after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s 2018 wedding, with a royal insider claiming he muttered four cutting words as the ceremony ended.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex tied the knot at St George’s Chapel in Windsor, with millions watching worldwide.
One of the most talked-about moments was the fiery 14-minute sermon by Bishop Michael Curry.
But according to former royal butler Grant Harrold in his upcoming memoir The Royal Butler: My Remarkable Life of Royal Service, Philip was less than impressed.
Harrold recalls how, as the newlyweds and senior royals exited the chapel, Philip turned to Queen Elizabeth II and muttered: “Thank [expletive] that’s over.”
Despite his sharp remark, other royal commentators insist Philip had no ill will toward Meghan.
Biographer Ingrid Seward previously noted that the Duke of Edinburgh was “welcoming” to Meghan as a newcomer to the family, though his retirement meant they rarely spent time together.
Philip died in April 2021 at the age of 99. Following his passing, Harry and Meghan paid tribute, remembering him as a man of “humour, honour and service,” while the Queen expressed her “deep sorrow” at the loss of her husband of 73 years.
