Prince Andrew’s inner circle has broken their silence ahead of the release of the new book Entitled: The Rise and Fall of the House of York, and they’re not shaken.
Speaking to The Daily Beast, a friend dismissed Andrew Lownie’s new book as a “rehash,” adding, “It would be totally inaccurate to say they are devastated or heartbroken… The family used to wonder when this would ever end; now they know it never will. It’s just, the tide comes in and the tide goes out.”
The book, out Thursday, compiles years of allegations about the Duke of York and the York family, from finances and staff relations to the duke’s private life and royal rifts.
Buckingham Palace has declined to comment, noting Andrew is no longer a working royal. His team has also offered no statement.
Sources close to Sarah Ferguson echoed the sentiment, saying the Yorks have been “pilloried and bullied” by the British press for years and are “well used to it by now.”
Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, also featured in the book, were described by insiders as “innocent victims” and “collateral damage,” praised for standing by their parents while building independent careers as the Firm asked.
“They were told to get jobs by the Firm, and they did that,” one source said. “It seems unfair to attack them for making money.”
