The author of a new royal tell-all has brushed off reports that Prince Harry is considering legal action over claims he once left Prince Andrew with a “bloody nose.”
Andrew Lownie, whose forthcoming book Entitled: The Rise and Fall of the House of York alleges the Duke of Sussex punched his uncle during a heated exchange, responded to the reports with a tongue-in-cheek remark during an appearance on Good Morning Britain on Thursday.
Asked about Harry “calling in the lawyers,” Lownie replied simply: “I can’t wait.”
The alleged altercation, which Lownie claims was sparked by disagreements over Meghan Markle, is said to have been one of two disputes between the pair.
In the book, he writes that Andrew warned Harry his marriage “wouldn’t last a month,” accused Meghan of being “an opportunist,” and claimed she was “too old” for the prince.
Harry and Meghan’s legal team have firmly denied the incident ever took place, telling Newsweek: “I can confirm Prince Harry and Prince Andrew have never had a physical fight, nor did Prince Andrew ever make the comments he is alleged to have made about the Duchess of Sussex to Prince Harry.”
They also confirmed a legal letter had been sent to the Daily Mail, which first published the claims.
Lownie stood by his account, referencing the late Queen Elizabeth II’s famous response to the Sussexes’ Oprah Winfrey interview: “Recollections can vary, as we know. I’m standing by my source and I can’t wait if he wants to pursue this as an action.”
