The original Naked Gun director, David Zucker, reacts to the latest reboot of the comedic movie, gladdened by the positive reactions.
However, the director has no plans of watching the 2025 movie.
The latest Naked Gun film is directed by Akiva Schaffer, starring Liam Neeson and Pamela Anderson.
Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, Zucker expressed his excitement, saying that “there’s a strong market for comedy in movie theaters, and spoof in particular.”
“People are liking it, which is great,” the director told THR. “I really like the director, and I just couldn’t wish him more well. I texted him already, saying, ‘I hear the reviews are great, and it’s tracking well.’ He was very happy to hear from me, and we’ll probably get together later in the month when the smoke clears.”
Moreover, Zucker added that he is not planning to watch it because he doesn’t watch sequels written by him and done by others.
He also recalled telling Akiva that he does not intend to watch the movie.
“He actually invited me to come see an early cut of it,” Zucker said. “But I told him there’s nothing I could do to help because it really isn’t what I would have done. That’s not to say that he didn’t actually end up doing a good movie. But I don’t think I could help with that.”
