Sydney Sweeney turned heads at the premiere of her upcoming film, Americana, marking her first public appearance following backlash on her American Eagle ad.
The 27-year-old actress appeared unbothered as she stunned in a custom Danielle Frankel yellow dress and a matching headband.
The leading lady of the film was joined on the red carpet by her costars, Halsey and Simon Rex.
The film follows Penny Jo Poplin, played by Sydney Sweeney, a shy waitress who teams up with a military veteran to retrieve an American artefact while being chased by criminals.
Americana was initially shot in 2022, and after its premiere in 2023, the film was acquired by Lionsgate. The transfer delayed the release of the movie because distribution plans had not been finalised.
On July 23, Sweeney starred in American Eagle campaign titled, 'Sydney Sweeney Has Great Jeans.' The ad divided the internet, with many accusing the Euphoria star of glorifying her white heritage and thin physique.
Netizens took to social media to mock her for the campaign. A follower wrote, "I'm sure she has nice jeans." Another person penned, "You’re infuriating, actually."
On the other side, Sweeney's fans extended their support towards her. A well-wisher penned, "Thanks for saving the world, we love you."
However, the actress hasn’t responded to the retaliation yet, but the Jeans company defended her with the statement, "The campaign is and always was about the jeans."
On the professional front, Sweeney's film, Americana, will be released on August 15, 2025.
