Why Prince William might one day call on Zara Tindall and Mike Tindall

As King Charles continues to lead a streamlined monarchy, one royal couple often mentioned as potential reinforcements to the royal roster is Zara and Mike Tindall, though insiders say that’s unlikely to happen anytime soon.

Since ascending the throne in 2022, King Charles has embraced a leaner royal family, limiting public appearances and official engagements to key senior royals.

The change, reportedly driven in part by cost-cutting efforts, is expected to continue under Prince William when he eventually becomes King.

While the Prince of Wales, 43, has yet to publicly comment on the monarchy’s size, some speculate he may take a different approach and potentially bring in non-working royals, like his cousin Zara Tindall, to step into more visible roles.

But royal commentator and former butler Grant Harrold, who worked for then-Prince Charles between 2004 and 2011, doesn’t see that happening just yet.

“I don’t think we’ll see Zara and Mike pick up any more royal duties,” Harrold said in an interview with Prime Casino

“They’re not currently working royals. Of course, we see them at events supporting the King, and we always will, but I don’t think we’ll see an increase in their presence.”

“Mike’s not into that world,” Harrold added. “What makes them so likeable is that they’re seen more informally. Zara and Mike are relatable.”

“If William is King and leading a younger royal family, who knows? It could be a different story,” he said.

“It’s thought he’ll keep things small, but never say never.”
