King Charles gives update on cancer battle in emotional exchange with fellow survivor

King Charles has finally offered a rare update on his health, and it came in the most heartfelt way.

While greeting royal fans in Newmarket on July 22 alongside Queen Camilla, the 76-year-old monarch shared a brief but personal comment about his ongoing cancer treatment.

When local resident Lee Harman, a fellow cancer survivor, asked how he was doing, the King replied that he was “feeling a lot better now” and added, “It’s just one of those things.”

“It was a very human moment,” said Harman, who told the King he had received the all-clear last year.

“He genuinely seemed interested in my story too.”

It’s one of the few times the monarch has spoken publicly about his cancer diagnosis since Buckingham Palace first revealed the news in February 2024.

While the specific form of cancer remains undisclosed, the Palace previously confirmed it is not prostate cancer, following a separate procedure in January.

Since then, King Charles has balanced treatment with royal duties, returning to public life in April after a brief hiatus.

Although he was briefly hospitalized in March due to a reaction to treatment, sources called it “a minor bump in the road.”

“He’s managing the illness,” a royal aide shared. “He just lives as normally as possible.”
