As King Charles continues his brave battle with cancer, the monarch is said to have embraced one of Prince Philip's most defining traits — his no-nonsense attitude.

The late Duke of Edinburgh was known for his practicality, directness, and ability to cut through complexities with a simple five-word mantra: "Just get on with it."

Daily Express Royal Editor Emily Ferguson has suggested that King Charles, 75, has taken inspiration from his late father’s ethos, especially as he faces the challenges of his cancer treatment.

"It's perhaps the words of his late father, Prince Philip, that have stuck with him the most," Ferguson wrote.

"The 'no fuss' royal would often tell his children to 'just get on with it,' and his eldest son has certainly taken on that stoic approach to life since his cancer diagnosis last February."

Since his diagnosis, King Charles has remained steadfast in his duties, determined to fulfill his royal commitments despite his health struggles.

Did Prince Philip and King Charles have a good relationship?

Prince Philip and King Charles had a complex relationship marked by tension in Charles' younger years due to their contrasting personalities—Philip’s tough, pragmatic approach clashed with Charles’ sensitive nature.

Philip’s decision to send Charles to Gordonstoun, a strict boarding school, created further strain. Their relationship was also tested during Charles’ troubled marriage to Diana and his affair with Camilla

However, in later years, they developed a greater understanding and mutual respect, with Charles publicly praising Philip’s dedication to the monarchy. By the time of Philip’s death in 2021, their relationship had softened, marked by affection and appreciation.
