Prince Harry, Meghan Markle accused of ruining their own royal peace deal

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s reported efforts to mend fences with King Charles have sparked fresh criticism, with one royal expert accusing them of "sabotaging" their own attempt at reconciliation.

Last week’s private meeting between senior aides from the Sussexes and King Charles was widely viewed as a possible first step toward healing the fractured relationship between Harry and his royal relatives. 

But royal reputation strategist Eric Schiffer isn’t convinced it was handled wisely.

Speaking to media, Schiffer said the way details of the meeting quickly leaked undermined its purpose. 

“If this is a peace deal, why does every shutter click crack like a gunshot at the Firm’s credibility, turning a solemn summit into the potential for septic muck reputational carnage?” he asked.

While sources close to Harry and Meghan have expressed “frustration” over the leak and strongly denied being behind it, Schiffer warned that if they had leaked the news themselves, it would amount to “torpedoing” their own peace effort.

“Crisis comms 101, don’t torch your own olive branch,” he added.

The leak has raised questions about trust between the royal households, even as Harry has expressed a desire for reconciliation with his father following years of estrangement.
