University pays tribute after Prince Harry, Prince Williams cousin tragically dies

Durham University has paid tribute to Rosie Roche, the 20-year-old cousin of Prince William and Prince Harry, after her sudden and tragic death.

Rosie, a first-year English Literature student, was found dead on July 14 by close family at her home in Wiltshire.

A firearm was discovered nearby, and an inquest at Wiltshire and Swindon Coroner’s Court revealed her death was due to a traumatic head injury.

Police confirmed there are no suspicious circumstances or third-party involvement.

Professor Wendy Powers, Principal of Rosie’s college at Durham, issued a touching statement praising Rosie’s warmth and presence during her short time at the university.

“Rosie had settled into the University and College beautifully and had lots of friends,” Professor Powers said.

“She was loved for her creativity, energy, her love of books, poetry and travel among many other talents. She will be sorely missed.

“Our thoughts and condolences are with Rosie’s family and friends, and we are offering support to those affected at this extremely difficult time.”

Rosie was the granddaughter of Diana, Princess of Wales’s uncle, making her a second cousin to Prince William and Prince Harry.

In a family death notice, she was described as the “darling daughter” of Hugh and Pippa Roche and an “incredible sister” to Archie and Agatha.

Wiltshire Police added: “There are no suspicious circumstances, and our thoughts are with her family. We would ask that their privacy is respected at this terrible time.”
