Prince Harry may have moved on from royal life, but the internet never forgets, and neither do royal fans.
Tattoo artist Joshua Lord, who inked the Duke of Sussex’s sketch for the Invictus Games promo earlier this year, sparked royal outrage after posting a thank-you letter from Harry on Instagram.
The note, penned after Harry’s visit to New York’s East Side Ink last September, praised Lord and even nicknamed him the “Skillful Dodger.”
But fans weren’t fuming over the heartfelt letter, it was the caption that caused chaos.
Lord tagged the now-defunct @sussexroyal Instagram handle, the former official account of Harry and Meghan back when they were working royals. And royal loyalists did not take it lightly.
“Please kindly remove the Sussex Royal tag. It belongs to the Crown!” one user snapped.
Another wrote: “They’re not royals anymore. Tag Markle, not a banned handle!”
Others piled on: “They’re not allowed to use that account!” and “There is no ‘Prince’ in America.”
One furious commenter even invoked the late Queen Elizabeth: “Remove the tag and respect the Crown! Respect the Queen!!”
