Everything we know about Princes William and Harry’s cousin, Rosie Roche’s death

The royal family is once again facing heartbreak after the sudden death of Rosie Roche, a 20-year-old cousin of Princes William and Harry, who was found dead at her family home in Wiltshire.

Rosie Jeanne Burke Roche, a promising English Literature student at Durham University, was reportedly packing for a holiday with friends when her mother and sister discovered her lifeless body on July 14. A firearm was found nearby.

Rosie was no stranger to royal circles. Born on June 21, 2005, she was the granddaughter of Edmund Roche, 5th Baron Fermoy, Princess Diana’s uncle, placing her within the extended Windsor family tree.

Her parents are Edmund Hugh Burke Roche and Pippa Long.

An inquest has been opened and adjourned until October 2025. Authorities confirmed her death is not being treated as suspicious, with no third-party involvement.

An obituary in the Yorkshire Post described Rosie as the “darling daughter” of Hugh and Pippa, and a beloved sister to Archie and Agatha.

A private family funeral is planned, with a public memorial to follow.

Her untimely passing comes just months after another royal-linked tragedy, the February 2024 death of Thomas Kingston, husband to Lady Gabriella Windsor. Like Rosie, Kingston was also found near a firearm.

His death was ruled a suicide after a battle with depression.
