While most 12-year-olds dream of being astronauts or athletes, Prince George already knows exactly what his future holds, as the next generation of monarchy awaits him.
But far from being overwhelmed by the enormous responsibility, young George seems ready to step into the role when the time comes.
The second in line to the throne has been gradually introduced to royal life, joining his parents at major events like Trooping the Colour and even serving as a Page of Honour at King Charles’s Coronation.
But his biggest indication yet came in May, when George joined Prince William and Princess Kate at a Buckingham Palace tea party with Second World War veterans, marking the 80th anniversary of VE Day.
The appearance wasn’t scheduled, William revealed that George was “very keen” to attend after watching the military parade earlier that day.
His interest in hearing veterans’ stories firsthand suggests that, under his parents’ careful guidance, George is already learning what it means to serve as a senior royal.
Eton College, Prince William’s alma mater, remains the frontrunner, thanks to its proximity to their Windsor home, Adelaide Cottage.
However, Kate’s former school, Marlborough College, a co-educational option, is also on the table, especially as it could set a modern precedent for the monarchy.
While Princess Charlotte couldn’t follow George to all-boys Eton, Marlborough could allow the siblings to continue their education together.
