Why Prince William and Kate havent revealed Prince Georges next school yet

Prince George is on the cusp of major changes, and it’s not just because he turns 12 this week.

As the future King prepares for his final year at Lambrook School in Berkshire this September, royal watchers are wondering why Prince William and Princess Kate haven’t announced where George will go next.

The reason being privacy. While it’s widely believed that George will follow in his father’s footsteps and head to Eton College in 2026, Kensington Palace has stayed tight-lipped, and according to reports, that’s intentional.

An announcement is expected to come at the last possible moment next year to protect George’s privacy and avoid disruption for other students at his future school.

It’s a strategy informed by experience. When William and Kate enrolled George, Charlotte and Louis at Lambrook in 2022, the school’s atmosphere reportedly shifted overnight.

Melanie Sanderson, managing editor of The Good Schools Guide, told GB News that after the royal children enrolled, "there were a few grumbles about everything being tightened up and the loss of a very sweet, quite small, family-focused school."

Security ramped up, with locked gates and stricter rules around events like sports day, she said.

Given that experience, it’s no surprise the palace is keeping George’s next step under wraps , even if Eton, conveniently close to the family’s Windsor home, seems the obvious choice.

Marlborough College in Wiltshire, Kate’s alma mater, is also reportedly under consideration.
