Oprah Winfrey teases Prince Harry and Meghan Markle over their tricky last name

Oprah Winfrey is having a little fun at her famous neighbours’ Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's expense.

The legendary talk show host poked fun at Prince Harry and Meghan during her appearance on Kelly Ripa's Let’s Talk Off Camera podcast on July 16, joking about the couple’s tricky last name.

When Kelly asked Oprah if she’d enjoy receiving baby chicks as a gift, Oprah quipped: “I’d run them straight over to the Sussexes,” deliberately mispronouncing their name and repeating “the Sussexes” for comic effect.

Oprah then shared a hilarious story about how Harry once called her on Easter weekend asking for help with a “duck problem” at their Montecito home.

According to Oprah, Harry rang her saying: “Sorry to bother you, O, but we have a duck problem here.”

Apparently, the Sussexes’ garden pond was actually just a stream, so Harry asked to bring the ducks over to Oprah’s more suitable pond.

While Oprah suggested they wait so her best friend Gayle King’s grandchildren could watch the ducks being relocated, Harry insisted they come “right away.”

The trio, Oprah, Harry, and Meghan, ended up chasing a mother duck who fled into their garden before eventually settling the ducks.

The anecdote comes as Oprah maintains a friendly relationship with the couple following their explosive 2021 interview, saying she aimed to “allow them to tell their story,” not deliver a bombshell expose.

Oprah’s playful remark and her retelling of the Easter weekend duck chaos is yet another glimpse into the neighbors’ quirky Montecito connection.
