'Harry Potter' reimagined: First look of Nick Frost as Hagrid

A day after fans got their first look of Dominic McLaughlin as the titular wizard in the upcoming Harry Potter series. Spaced actor Frost became the next star to be seen in costume.

While sharing the first look on Instagram, the streaming platform HBO Max captioned the post, “Nick Frost has walked his first day in the big boots of Hagrid on the set of the new HBO Original Harry Potter series.”

Why are fans divided?

Netizens soon after the release of the first look of Nick Frost as Hagrid, appeared to be divided.

One user wrote on Instagram, "This might be the best casting in a series in a WHILE” and another wrote on X (Twitter), “Man no matter what, it’s just too early for me. All these actors just look like they’re cosplaying.”

Another one wrote, “I don’t know why but whatever pics they are sharing of casts looks like AI, is it just me or you all also felt like that??"

Another wrote on X: “The original can't be surpassed. The new one looks like he’s wearing a wig.”

The production of the first season of the new TV adaptation began yesterday at Warner Bros. Studios in Hertfordshire, remember it’s the same place where past movies were shot.

And, the season is set to be premiere early next year, while some critics hinting at the show could span over a decade in an attempt to explore more plot lines in detail.

Who are the cast members?

More cast members were announced yesterday, joining Frost is McLaughlin and others already confirmed include Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley, Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger, John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape and Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall.
