Billie Eilish recently recalled how she started her music career in a new interview.

The BLUE singer, who wanted to become a professional dancer during her pre-teen years, revealed that her hip injury was the reason behind her life-changing decision.

“I have a solo in each combo,” said the 24-year-old while speaking on the latest episode of Amy Poehler’s Good Hang podcast on May 5.

Billie remembered that she “was so excited” after she was done with rehearsal.

“We were about to leave. And our teacher was like, ‘Wait, let's do one more just to film it.' And so, we did one more, and we filmed it, and in the middle of my little twerk — literally 12 years old — my hip is like [pops out], and I got injured,” explained the What Was I Made For? hit-maker.

The injury was as such that she “couldn't do anything and was basically like bedridden for at least a week”.

“I was on crutches, and I literally never danced again,” stated the singer-songwriter.

At that moment, Billie and her brother Finneas also put out their song, Ocean Eyes, on SoundCloud that gained a lot of traction.

“Then that week I went to all these meetings in my crutches. Met with InterScope [Records], I met with all these different booking agents, I had my crutches, and I was so sad,” said the singer.

Now, when she looks back, Billie noted that the “injury” was “actually a blessing in disguise”.

“When you think something is ruining your life, and it's really actually saving your life,” she added.
