HBO has officially begun production on the new Harry Potter series with Dominic McLaughlin stepping into the iconic role of boy wizard.

The first image of the 11-year-old Scottish actor in costume was shared on social media, showing him holding a clapperboard dated July 14, at Warner Bros. Studios in Leavesden, UK.

The series, expected to take 10 years to complete, will premiere in 2027, with Season 1 filming through spring 2026.

Notably, Mark Mylod will direct multiple episodes, with Francesca Gardiner as showrunner and J.K. Rowling as one of the executive producers.

The producers have promised a "faithful adaptation of the iconic books," diving deeper into the unexplored plotlines.

In May, the main trio was announced with Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley.

Whereas, the supporting cast members include Rory Wilmot, Amos Kitson and John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore.

The new series will bring Hogwarts back to life nearly 14 years after the final movie, back in 2008.

The fresh post sparked reactions from excited fans. One wrote on Instagram, "Let the magic begin."
