Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have furiously denied being behind the leak that exposed their private “peace summit” with King Charles’s top aides, reigniting tensions just as reconciliation efforts appeared to begin.
According to The Daily Telegraph, Harry’s team insisted they had no role in the leak, after the Mail on Sunday published details and photos of the secret meeting, including its location, timing and purpose, splashed across front pages.
The meeting, which took place on a terrace at London’s exclusive Royal Over-Seas League club, involved the King’s communications secretary and two senior Sussex staffers, including Harry’s new US-based PR chief Meredith Maines.
The gathering was reportedly intended as a discreet step toward mending the royal rift, described as nothing more than an “informal drink,” not formal negotiations.
But the leak has sparked new mistrust on both sides.
A source close to Harry told The Telegraph the photos were a “disastrous start” to what was supposed to be a private and cautious move toward healing ties.
Buckingham Palace has refused to comment on the situation, leaving speculation swirling over who was behind the breach, and whether this unexpected exposure will derail fragile peace talks before they even properly begin.
