Prince Harry and King Charles's secret 'peace summit' may finally be bringing the Sussexes toward royal reconciliation after years of tension.
Last week, key aides from both camps reportedly met in London for what’s being described as an informal “peace summit”, the first step in repairing their fractured relationship.
The rift between father and son deepened after Harry and Meghan Markle’s 2020 exit from royal life and the Duke’s legal fight over taxpayer-funded security.
Harry’s recent interview with the BBC, where he criticized the monarchy and referenced the King’s cancer battle, seemed to dash hopes of peace. But this latest meeting suggests both sides are now willing to “lay down their swords,” sources say, according to Express UK.
Notably absent from the talks: representatives from Kensington Palace, signaling that Prince William remains distant and uninterested in mending fences, insiders claim.
The informal London meeting reportedly saw King Charles’s communications chief Tobyn Andreae bring a goodwill gift for Harry’s team, signaling warming relations.
However, trust remains the core issue, Harry must prove he will stop publicly criticizing the monarchy if reconciliation is to succeed.
A face-to-face between Harry and Charles could take place in September, when Harry returns to the UK for the WellChild Awards.
It would mark their first in-person meeting in 18 months, raising hopes of a royal thaw.
