Prince Andrew has been dealt a humiliating blow as a new report reveals that many of the charities he once supported are thriving without him, and some even saw profits soar after his exit.

The Duke of York was forced to step back from royal duties and relinquish patronage of 64 charities following his disastrous 2019 Newsnight interview about his links to convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein.

Now, a study by Giving Evidence has revealed that Prince Andrew’s patronage had no significant impact on the financial health of the charities he supported — and that many actually fared better after he left.

Of 35 organisations examined, half reported an increase in revenue following Andrew’s departure. The report concluded: “We find no evidence that Prince Andrew’s patronage of charities helped the charities in terms of revenue.”

Notably, Children North East saw revenue rise by 56%, Yorkshire Air Ambulance by 47%, and the Fly Navy Heritage Trust by a staggering 346%.

Caroline Fiennes, founder of Giving Evidence, stated: “We investigated whether anything happened to the revenue of his patronee charities before and after the patronage ended… it didn’t.”

The study suggests charities may waste time and resources seeking royal patrons, as Andrew’s case shows there’s no clear financial benefit.
