Why FBIs Epstein case closure could actually hurt Prince Andrew

The FBI’s recent decision to close its investigation into Jeffrey Epstein may appear like a win for Prince Andrew, but experts say it could actually be bad news for the Duke of York.

Although the FBI confirmed no charges will be filed against the 65-year-old royal or any other high-profile Epstein associate, Deputy Royal Editor Victoria Ward writes in The Telegraph that this outcome “changes nothing” for Andrew’s future.

Despite his repeated denials and settling a lawsuit with Virginia Giuffre without admitting liability, Andrew stepped back from royal duties in 2019 and has remained largely out of public life.

Ward argues that a full FBI investigation, or release of records, might have helped clear his name.

Instead, this verdict leaves lingering doubts in the public eye, doing nothing to repair his reputation or restore his royal standing.

While friends suggest Andrew now feels “safe to travel,” his prospects of returning as a senior working royal remain bleak, with experts noting that “moving on has never been such a distant prospect” for the King’s embattled brother.
