Prince Harry and King Charles could finally be ready to let bygones be bygones.
Royal watchers are abuzz after reports emerged of a quiet “peace summit” between representatives of the King and Prince Harry last week, the first sign of thawing relations after years of bitter estrangement following Harry and Meghan Markle’s 2020 royal exit.
Harry, 39, and his father have endured a strained relationship worsened by public attacks, Harry’s memoir Spare, and an ongoing battle over his security while in the UK.
While tensions escalated recently after Harry’s blunt BBC interview, where he lamented that his cancer-stricken father “won’t speak” to him, sources now claim both sides agreed to “lay down their swords” during informal talks in London.
The King’s communications chief, Tobyn Andreae, even brought a gift to Sussex aides Meredith Maines and Liam Maguire, a symbolic gesture that the palace wants a fresh start.
But noticeably absent from the talks was any representative of Prince William’s team, suggesting that while King Charles is ready to reconcile, William reportedly “has no time” for Harry’s grievances and would need an apology before considering rebuilding their relationship.
A source hinted that Harry and Charles could meet in person this September when Harry visits the UK for the WellChild Awards, marking their first face-to-face meeting in 18 months.
