Buckingham Palace confirms dates for Trumps historic UK state visit

Buckingham Palace has officially confirmed that former US President Donald Trump and former First Lady Melania Trump will make a historic return to the UK this fall.

Trump has accepted King Charles’s invitation for a state visit from September 17–19, marking his second state visit to Britain, an unprecedented gesture for a US leader.

The three-day trip will see King Charles host the Trumps at Windsor Castle, following the format of last week’s French state visit with President Emmanuel Macron.

However, unlike Macron, Trump won’t address the House of Commons due to Parliament being in recess.

The invitation was hand-delivered by UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer during a meeting at the White House, where Trump called it a “great, great honour.”

Plans for a separate informal meeting at Balmoral or Dumfries House were explored but abandoned due to scheduling and logistical challenges.

In addition to the royal itinerary, Scottish police are preparing for a possible stop at Trump’s golf courses in Aberdeenshire and Ayrshire, with security costs expected to be “considerable.”

Trump’s previous 2019 state visit featured a grand welcome at Buckingham Palace, a state banquet, and meetings with the late Queen Elizabeth II and other senior royals.

This upcoming visit will be another high-profile moment in the enduring UK-US relationship, all eyes will be on Windsor this September.
