King Charles is gearing up to deliver a bold message during his upcoming royal tour and it's aimed squarely at US President Donald Trump.

According to Canada’s High Commissioner to the UK, Ralph Goodale, the monarch will reinforce Canada’s firm stance on sovereignty during a historic two-day visit to the country later this month.

Speaking at a special event at Canada House in London on Tuesday, Goodale told reporters: “The Prime Minister has made it clear that Canada is not for sale, not now, not ever, and I think he probably added five ‘nevers’ after that to make the point.”

He added that the King, as Canada’s head of state, will “reinforce the power and the strength of that message.”

Quoting the national anthem, Goodale added: “We are the true north, strong and free, and we will stay that way.”

The remarks come just days before King Charles and Queen Camilla head to Canada for a landmark visit from May 26 to 27, the monarch’s 20th trip to the country, but his first as King.

Their Majesties' trip to Canada House on Tuesday was more than ceremonial. The building, Canada’s High Commission in the UK, is celebrating 100 years since its opening in 1925.

To mark the occasion, His Majesty was presented with a symbolic “key” to Canada House, designed by Indigenous Ts’msyen artist Morgan Asoyuf and cast in Canadian bronze, silver, and nickel.
