King Charles assigned an important task to Duchess Sophie during her headline-making trip to Bosnia.
On July 11, the official Instagram page of the royal family shared that the Duchess of Edinburgh delivered the monarch's emotional message to mark the 30th Anniversary of the Srebrenica Genocide.
Sophie read King Charles' message at the Srebrenica Memorial Centre.
At first, the King expressed his great sadness as he was not able to join the mourning community of Srebrenica.
He said, "I am most touched and grateful to be able to share these words as we pay our respects."
"Only by learning from the past does it become possible to share in each other’s loss and look to the future. Only by working together to find the missing can there be closure for those still seeking answers."
"Three decades on, it is ever more important to remember all those who suffered, and to redouble our efforts to ensure a peaceful, stable future for all the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina."
During the gathering, Duchess Sophie was also looking visibly as she remembered the victims of the tragic incident while performing her royal duty.
