King Charles is facing yet another royal headache and once again, it’s thanks to Prince Andrew.
Fresh claims reported by the BBC have linked the Duke of York’s business initiative, Pitch@Palace Global, to a controversial PPE millionaire embroiled in ongoing scandals.
The report states that Pitch@Palace Global, the international arm of Andrew’s entrepreneur-boosting project, was legally administered for two years by Knox House Trustees (UK), a company connected to millionaire Doug Barrowman.
Barrowman and his wife, Baroness Michelle Mone, made headlines after admitting they lied about their involvement with PPE Medpro, a company awarded lucrative government contracts during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The couple denies any wrongdoing, but the National Crime Agency is currently investigating suspected criminal activity.
According to the BBC, after Prince Andrew’s disastrous 2019 Newsnight interview over his ties to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, Pitch@Palace Global transferred its legal ownership to Knox House Trustees (UK), though the company "remained under Andrew’s control."
Companies House filings reveal that from February 2021, Knox House Trustees (UK), then owned by Barrowman, served as the firm’s legal "nominee."
Barrowman's lawyer stressed that he "at no time had any business or personal involvement with the duke," while emphasizing that Knox House Trustees simply provided administrative services.
Further complicating matters, Pitch@Palace Global was initially set up as a for-profit company, unlike its UK counterpart, which was structured as a non-profit community interest company.
In 2023, ownership of Knox House Trustees (UK) transferred to Arthur Lancaster, an accountant closely linked to both Andrew and Barrowman. Lancaster, notably, is also associated with PPE Medpro.
Author Andrew Lownie, who is currently writing a biography on the Duke of York, told the outlet: "Andrew has a long history of associating with dubious business figures and disguising his business activities behind nominee and offshore accounts. There really needs to be a full investigation into the duke’s financial activities."
