An upcoming American horror film written, produced, and directed by Zach Cregger is set to hit theatres on 8th August, distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures.
Weapons features a star-studded cast, including Josh Brolin, Julia Garner, Brian Tyree Henry, Tom Burke, Renate Reinsve, and others.
As previously reported by news outlets, the storyline revolves around a group of children who mysteriously disappear from a small town. The film explores the townspeople’s reactions as they try to uncover what’s really happening.
The newly released teaser opens with a bedside clock displaying 2:17 a.m. As eerie music plays, children are seen quietly walking out of their homes—through the trees, along the streets—while a haunting voiceover says, “No one pulled them out. No one forced them.”
The sound of a ticking clock echoes in the background as children continue running from houses to streets and through yards, seemingly drawn toward an unknown destination. The teaser ends with a man asking, “What do you see that I don’t?”
Zach Cregger, best known for the comedy series The Whitest Kids U'Know, appears to be crafting something far beyond audience expectations with Weapons.
“It’s not a proper horror movie. It feels very Zach Cregger in that element,” said Julia Garner, one of the film’s lead stars.
“There are some comedic elements to it. Barbarian felt like that as well. This also feels [singular], so I’m excited. I’m excited for people to see it and hear their response.”
