Queen Camilla reportedly had reservations about Princess Kate when she first joined the royal fold, a royal expert has claimed.
While Kate Middleton is now considered one of the most popular members of the Royal Family, there was initial hesitation when Prince William introduced her to his family.
According to royal commentator Tom Quinn, Camilla wasn’t immediately impressed with Kate for three specific reasons.
Speaking on Channel 5’s documentary The Middletons: Modern Royal In-Laws, Quinn explained: "I'd heard that Camilla wasn't very keen on Catherine. She didn't shoot, she's not into horses particularly, there was too much of a gap and William would feel it."
However, Quinn noted that over time, Camilla changed her stance, adding: "I think it's true to say that Camilla later warmed to Catherine and recognised her solid virtues."
Unlike many members of the Royal Family, including her children Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, Kate reportedly isn’t a fan of horse riding.
There have even been rumors that Kate, 43, may be allergic to horses, according to Cambridgeshire Live.
During an episode of the Daily Mail’s Palace Confidential podcast, host Jo Elvin remarked: "I think you can't be royal and not love horses."
In response, Charlotte Griffiths, Editor at Large for the Daily Mail, confirmed: "Catherine doesn't. She doesn't like riding, I think she's allergic to them."
Despite her early reservations, Camilla and Kate have since developed a strong relationship.
Royal commentator Angela Levin told GB News: "Camilla gets on very, very well with Catherine and helped her to understand the way you needed to be in the palace because it's very difficult."
While Camilla may have had doubts, King Charles reportedly welcomed Kate with open arms.
Royal biographer Katie Nicholl shared: "Charles really made a point of welcoming Kate into the family from an early stage. She was often invited for shooting weekends up at Berk Hall. It's Charles who largely taught Kate to stalk."
