James Bond fans have been eager to learn about their favourite spy’s supposed new direction ever since Amazon Studios bought the rights to the franchise.
Author Ian Fleming created the fictional British Secret Service agent in 1953, who made his way to the big screen in 1962’s Dr. No produced by Albert Broccoli.
Broccoli’s daughter Barbara and stepson Michael G. Wilson took over the reins of the franchise in the last three decades.
Actors such as Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig played a key role in keeping Bond relevant for his ever-growing audience.
However, many fans have expressed their concerns regarding the trajectory of the Bond series after Amazon Studios bought the rights to produce the next instalment earlier this year.
According to The Daily Mail, Amazon is determined not to upset the fans of the franchise who want it to stick to its traditions.
“There have been so many erroneous rumours about the future of Bond. Amazon is committed to keeping the spirit of Bond alive and that means he has to be British or from the Commonwealth – and he has to be male,” a source told The Daily Mail.
The source also revealed Amazon founder Jeff Bezos is a fan of Bond and is excited to see how his studio can take the franchise forward.
However, Bezos also wishes to keep Bond true to his roots and wants to reassure fans that certain aspects of the series will remain intact.
