European monarchs gather for funeral of Greece's last king Constantine

Royalty from all around Europe gathered in Athens for the funeral of Greece’s exiled monarch, Constantine the Second.

From Britain, Princess Anne, daughter of the late Queen Elizabeth the Second and late Prince Phillip, attended the funeral. She was a cousin of Constantine through her father.

King Felipe and Queen Letizia of Spain, and various royal members from Denmark, Monaco, Sweden, and Luxembourg were among the esteemed attendees at the event.

The late royalty will be buried in the town of Tatoi along with the other members of the former royal family.

The government has refused to hold a state funeral for Constantine.

Constantine passed away last week at the age of 82 in a local hospital.

He was only 27 years old when he was toppled by the military in 1967.

The late monarch fled into exile in Europe with his family.

The Greeks eventually abolished the monarchy in the early 70s, restoring democracy in the country.
