Tom Holland shares emotional truth about Spider-Man fame

Tom Holland has admitted his life has mirrored Peter Parker’s in more ways than one.

The 30-year-old actor revealed that landing the role of Spider-Man changed everything almost overnight.

Holland returns as the beloved Marvel superhero in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which picks up after the dramatic events of Spider-Man: No Way Home. 

While Peter Parker begins life in a world where nobody remembers his secret identity, he says that he can’t help but see striking similarities with his own journey to global fame.

Speaking to the New Indian Express, The Odyssey actor reflected on how quickly his world transformed after being cast as Spider-Man. 

He explained that he was just an ordinary teenager before landing the career-defining role, but his life changed forever once audiences knew his name.

Although Holland said he feels incredibly lucky to play the iconic superhero, he admitted fame has come at a price. 

He revealed there are now many things he can no longer do because of how recognisable he has become, drawing a direct comparison with Peter Parker’s struggles to balance normal life with extraordinary circumstances.

The Hollywood star also shared the biggest lesson the franchise has taught him, saying honesty is always the best approach. 

He believes that if someone has a secret they need to share, it is far better to tell the truth than risk others discovering it first, as the consequences can be much worse.

Now stepping into Spider-Man’s suit for the fourth time, The Impossible star said he never forgets the responsibility that comes with portraying such an inspirational character. 

He stressed that Peter Parker remains a role model for young people dealing with everyday challenges, from school friendships to finding confidence, and said he takes great pride in protecting that legacy.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which also stars Zendaya and Stranger Things favourite Sadie Sink, is set to swing into cinemas this week on July 29.
