Hayley Atwell reveals real reason behind her return in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’

Hayley Atwell recently broke her silence on her return as Peggy Carter in upcoming Avengers: Doomsday movie.

In a new interview with Discussing Film, Atwell opened up that Peggy’s love story with Steve was the driving force for their continued relationship.

Although the British-American actress didn’t divulge any details about the movie, she didn’t see the final cut.

“I just think what I can say without spoiling it. I mean, it helps that I haven’t seen it, so I don’t know exactly how it’s put together,” she told the outlet at the San Diego Comic-Con event over the weekend.

While talking about the romantic relationship between Steve and Peggy, the Marvel actress remarked, “It’s really touching to me that their love story is an enduring one.”

Dishing out the major reason behind her character comeback, Atwell pointed out that she really wanted Peggy to have something different to do, something new, to feel that she’s evolved in some way or the story has kind of moved forward.

“It’s such an existential epic of a movie and Peggy in a very different light responding to that,” she further said.

Elsewhere in the interview, Atwell reflected on her working relationship with co-star Chris Evans.

“Chris I’ve known for so long now, and it feels like when we first met we were like babies,” she stated.

The Duchess actress added, “We’re in such different stages of our lives, and we’re embarking on something that we had no idea would land in the way that it did and that we’d be here all these years later with the fans again, talking about it.”
