Jaafar Jackson’s hit film Michael has become an instant sensation despite the critics negative remarks.
The film which was released on April 24, follows the story of King of Pop Michael Jackson from his time in Jackson 5 to becoming one of the world’s biggest superstar.
Jaafar, is nephew of Michael and son of Jermaine Jackson.
Following the release on its opening weekend, the film has earned $97 million domestically and $217 million globally.
It has also notched the second-biggest debut of the year behind April’s sequel The Super Mario Galaxy Movie $131 million.
To celebrate the success, the actor who played his late uncle in the film appeared on a short clip shared on X.
In the video, he is seen wearing the well-known red and black Thriller jacket while eating popcorn and smiling.
The moment is similar to the viral G.I.F and meme of Michael sitting in cinema watching a movie, filmed during the shoot of his 1983 Thriller music video.
Jaafar talking about playing his uncle in an Instagram post said, “I’m humbled and honoured to bring my Uncle Michael’s story to life. To all the fans all over the world, I’ll see you soon.”
“I never dreamed to be an actor, or even thought of playing him, but I knew it was a calling,” he said. “Embodying Michael, I really had to earn the role and prove to the filmmakers that I was capable of becoming Michael.”
