Ryan Gosling, while starring in big hit roles in Hollywood has never committed to a franchise.
The Barbie star has recently joined one of the biggest and major franchise, Star Wars, for a standalone film, Star Wars: Starfighter directed by Shawn Levy.
In an interview with io9, The Notebook actor shared why franchises "never felt right" until the one he is working on.
"It was Shawn’s enthusiasm and his vision and the script," Gosling said. "And I just avoided these things because they never felt right."
He added, "I'm glad I did because I feel like, [similar to] a book like this, [it was] worth waiting for. And it is like a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity."
Previously, he praised the instalment for its "great story" and "original creators."
Praising the director, Gosling added that there is no "perfect filmmaker for this particular story than Shawn."
The standalone project is set five years after Star Wars: Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker (2019).
