Paul Feig has opened up about his hesitations before asking Taylor Swift for permission to use one of her tracks off of Reputation in The Housemaid.

The film’s lead actress, Amanda Seyfried had previously hinted that a song from the album was in the film, and now it has been confirmed to be I Did Something Bad.

In a recent interview to Deadline, the Ghostbusters director stated, “Well, that’s the thing; you want to put a Taylor song in your movie, but she and her company have to approve it.”

Paul revealed that he was convinced that the All Too Well director would not clear the perfect track to be used in the film, but that his fears turned out to be baseless.

“So, we were tempting with it, and we were like, ‘It’s so perfect, but she’s never gonna clear this,' then we showed she and her people the movie, and she approved it. So, I guess she likes it. Thank you Taylor!” the four time Emmy nominee added.

Notably, Amanda had also praised Reputation, saying that she was re-listening to the album because she did not appreciate properly when she first heard it.
