'The Housemaid' star steps into Cinderella’s shoes for Netflix

Amanda Seyfried has had a whirlwind 2025. 

After teaming up with Euphoria’s Sydney Sweeney in the steamy psycho-erotic thriller The Housemaid, which grossed nearly $400 million.

Fans were left buzzing over the announcement of its sequel, The Housemaid’s Secret, set to hit cinemas next Christmas. 

It's worth noting that Seyfried won’t be returning, but Sweeney is back as a housemaid, joined by Kristen Dunst in a new role.

But the 40-year-old actress isn’t slowing down. 

Netflix confirmed today that she’ll voice Cinderella in Steps, a fresh animated take on the classic tale, with Ali Wong and Stephanie Hsu voicing her wicked stepsisters, Lillith and Margot. 

Directors Alyce Tzue and John Ripa described her as the perfect choice for the role.

“Amanda has this incredible ability to make her characters specific and relatable,” Tzue said. 

Produced by Amy Poehler, Jane Hartwell, and Kim Lessing, the animated film promises to give fans a Cinderella who’s witty, real, and full of heart. 

With Mamma Mia! actress bringing her signature blend of humour and emotion, audiences can expect a fresh twist on a story we thought we knew.
