Stephen Colbert and Oprah Winfrey are connecting over being talk show hosts, as the former’s show nears its inevitable conclusion.
The 61-year-old’s show is set to air its last episode on May 21, and The Oprah Winfrey Show alum is one his final guests.
During the latest episode of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, the host asked the 72-year-old if she wants to switch places with him, to which she said yes.
After the swap, Winfrey asked, “So as you're standing here at the threshold, of what's about to be done and what you're stepping into. What do you feel like in this moment you most want to release?" to which Colbert seemed confused.
"I don’t want to let go of anything yet, because I still have a white-knuckle grip on all these people who I love, who I've worked with all these years, including those people over there,” the comedian stated.
He then shouted out crew members such as band, the camera and sound people as well as the audience.
Colbert and Winfrey then dished the importance of the audience and how it extends beyond just applause.
Notably, the political commentator explained that he believes that the people are very pure in their engagement with the conversation happening onstage and can help dictate and guide it.
