Sydney Sweeney has hit back at critics after her latest film Christy struggled at the box office, insisting she’s “proud” of the powerful story it tells.
The 28-year-old actress takes on the role of real-life boxing champion Christy Martin in the emotional biographical drama, which she also co-produced.
Despite the film’s poor ticket sales, the Euphoria star took to Instagram with a heartfelt message defending the project and its impact.
“I am so deeply proud of this movie,” she wrote alongside behind-the-scenes photos.
“Proud of the story we told, proud to represent someone as strong and resilient as Christy Martin. This film stands for survival, courage, and hope… we don’t always just make art for numbers, we make it for impact.”
Sydney added that Christy has been “the most impactful project” of her career, saying that if it helped “even one woman” find the courage to leave an abusive situation, then it was a success.
Speaking to Variety, the Immaculate actress revealed the film’s themes are “very personal” to her and that she hopes it will “raise more awareness” about domestic violence.
Her co-star Ben Foster also praised the actress’s dedication, saying: “All I could see was this sensitive human. Syd felt a great responsibility to represent Christy’s resilience — and her lantern is bright.”
Sydney Sweeney has officially moved on after her split from longtime fiancé Jonathan Davino.
The pair, who co-founded her production company Fifty-Fifty Films, ended their relationship earlier in 2025 after several years together.
Now, she is back in the spotlight after confirming her romance with 44-year-old music executive Scooter Braun.
The two have reportedly been spending a lot of time together and were recently spotted enjoying cosy outings in New York.
