Liam Hemsworth left 'The Witcher' cast in awe: Here’s what happened

Liam Hemsworth has officially taken the reins as Geralt of Rivia on Netflix’s hit fantasy series The Witcher, and his co-stars are already singing his praises.

The 35-year-old Aussie stepped into the role previously played by Henry Cavill, and from day one, Liam “took total ownership of the role,” revealed his on-screen bard Joey Batey, who plays Jaskier.

Speaking to SFX magazine, Joey said the cast pulled out all the stops to welcome their new star.

“Every time a new person comes to the show, our job is to almost overwhelmingly welcome them,” he explained.

“There’s lots of hugging, lots of, ‘Come here, we’re going for a quick pint.’ Liam fitted in straight away.”

The 36-year-old actor added that Liam impressed even during rehearsals, arriving with ideas and engaging in creative discussions with the showrunner.

“He turned up and cared,” he enthused.

“And he can make me corpse pretty easily, so there’s plenty of laughs on set too.”

Showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich also weighed in on the bold recast.

“We knew it was a big risk bringing in a new lead. Liam brings something different, a new take on Geralt.”

She teased that season four will explore the stoic hero’s rare moments of vulnerability, which The Hunger Games star is excited to bring to life.
