Netflix has given fans an early holiday scare by dropping the first five minutes of Stranger Things Season 5, and it’s a chilling blast from the past.

The clip, released after the Los Angeles premiere, hurls viewers straight back to 1983, just days after young Will Byers (de-aged Noah Schnapp) vanished.

Titled The Crawl, the opening sees a terrified Will trapped in the Upside Down version of Castle Byers.

Clutching his hunting rifle and softly singing The Clash’s “Should I Stay or Should I Go,” Will tries to calm himself, a nostalgic nod to his brother Jonathan (Charlie Heaton) and Season 1’s early days.

But his brief reprieve is cut short when a Demogorgon crashes into the fort, chasing him up a tree before he plummets to the ground.

The horror escalates as Will is dragged to the Upside Down’s Hawkins Library, face-to-face with the season’s ultimate villain, Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower).

In a spine-chilling moment, Vecna traps Will in tentacles and ominously declares: “At long last, we can begin. You and I, we are going to do such beautiful things together.”

Season 5, Volume 1 drops on November 26, with Volume 2 following December 25 and the finale landing on New Year’s Eve.

Set 18 months after Season 4, Hawkins is under military lockdown, Eleven is in hiding, and Vecna’s dark plans loom larger than ever.

With this opening scene revisiting Season 1, it seems the final season will finally reveal the true mysteries of the Upside Down and how Will’s fate has been tied to Vecna all along.

Fans have just a few weeks to prepare for the ultimate showdown.
