Ryan Reynolds leaves fans speechless with jaw-dropping revelation

Ryan Reynolds, widely recognised for his role as Deadpool in the Marvel franchise, is doubling down on his movie magic.

The 49-year-old actor is set to star in a brand-new remake of the 1974 cult classic Thunderbolt and Lightfoot, teaming up with Amazon MGM for the high-octane project. 

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Reynolds will produce through his Maximum Effort company.

The original film marked Michael Cimino’s directorial debut, with Clint Eastwood playing bank robber John ‘Thunderbolt’ Doherty, who is saved by young car thief ‘Lightfoot', a role that earned Jeff Bridges an Oscar nomination. 

The Proposal actor will collaborate with writers Enzo Mileti and Scott Wilson on the script, while Deadpool editor Shane Reid takes the director’s chair, promising a slick, modern twist on the iconic action-comedy.

In addition, he is also heading to Netflix for a very different adventure in the live-action adaptation of the beloved children’s classic, Eloise.

Blake Lively's husband will also star opposite newcomer Mae Schenk, who makes her feature debut as the mischievous girl living on the “tippy-top floor” of New York’s Plaza Hotel. 

Amy Sherman-Palladino, of Gilmore Girls fame, is directing, with a script penned alongside Hannah Marks and Linda Woolverton.

Reynolds will play an “original villainous character”, adding a dose of mischief to the family-friendly tale, while Netflix promises a whimsical twist on a timeless story.
