Ryan Reynold’s latest red carpet appearance had a somewhat awkward moment that has earned a lot of criticism from internet users.
The Deadpool and Wolverine actor is known for his dry humour and fun-loving personality but netizens are here to check him after he seemingly went too far.
In the clip circulating of his arrival at the Toronto International Film Festival for the premiere of his John Candy: I Like Me, the actor’s response to a child reporter has sparked strong reactions.
Ryan approaches the interviewer asking what his question was, to which the small boy begins introducing himself.
The 48-year-old then stated, “Nice to meet you too, let’s skip to the question,” immediately breaking out in laugher afterwards.
Netizens quickly flocked under the short video of the interaction posted to X (formerly Twitter) with the caption, “There is nothing funny about this. Kids do not understand these types of ‘jokes’ where the person is being rude to them. It’s called being mean,” to agree with the poster.
“It’s one thing to joke with an adult but a kid won’t get what he believes are jokes,” one wrote, while another called him “manner less.”
“Talk about making a nervous kid feel more timid. Jerk!” added a fourth internet user.
Ryan is a producer on the Colin Hanks directed John Candy: I Like Me documentary, which is about the titular Canadian actor.
